BYJU’S Gives Students Free Access To Learning App Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

Amid the coronavirus outbreak, many schools in India have directed the students to stay at home to prevent the spread of the deadly virus which has already taken the lives of over 4K people around the world. The Indian government has also raised an advisory to schools to remain closed to safeguard the health of students. To tackle the situation and help school-going students during the exam time, edtech unicorn BYJU’S has announced that it will be providing free access to its educational app to students till the end of April 2020.

With this initiative, all K-12 students can download and access BYJU’S learning content for free. While students in grades 1-3 can access mathematics and English lessons, students in grades 6-12 can learn concepts of mathematics and science on the BYJU’S app without any charge.

For getting access to the free content, students can download BYJU’S-The Learning App and Disney BYJU’S Early Learn. The entire library of BYJU’S educational content will be provided to the students. Those who are already using BYJU’S applications need to update their app to get access to the complete content for free.

According to a recent report by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the education of over 290 Mn students across 13 countries is expected to get interrupted because of the coronavirus outbreak. But with online educational platforms coming forward, the impact on the education of these students can be minimised.

Startups Fight Coronavirus

Amid the coronavirus outbreak, many startups have come forward to tackle the situation with their unique propositions. For instance, Bengaluru-based Digit Insurance has launched an insurance product for coronavirus-impacted individuals in India. This will help coronavirus impacted individuals to get secure themselves from the cost associated with the treatment of coronavirus-led disease Covid-19.

Under this new product, customers can opt for an insurance cover which ranges from INR 25K to INR 2 Lakh. The minimum premium for the insurance is INR 299 per month.

Additionally, US-based SaaS provider LogMeIn has also come up with a unique solution to help organisations in the fight against coronavirus. LogMeIn is now offering access to its collaboration and remote access software for free to governments, municipalities, educational institutions, healthcare organisations, and non-profits. Also, Georgia-based developer of blockchain-enabled applications Acoer is also providing blockchain technology to easily track and visualise the outbreak.
