Consumer electronics brand boAT is aiming to invest in wearable technology in the next three years. Speaking at Inc42’s The D2C Summit 3.0, Aman Gupta, boAt cofounder stated that the startup has cracked the market for ‘hearables’ (earphones and headphones) and now has entered into the wearables category.

He said the above while talking to Inc42 cofounder and CEO Vaibhav Vardhan at the summit. He was speaking at the inaugural session of Inc42’s The D2c Summit 3.0 titled “boAt’s ‘David Vs Goliath’ Journey To Profitability.”

“We are doing well. We have invested in a lot of wearables [technology] and in the next year, we will be focussing more on the category,” Gupta said.

Talking about ‘what’s next’ for the unicorn, Gupta said that boAt is now looking to manage its supply chain better and will then think of going international. According to him, so far the primary focus has been customer service. However, with time, they have realised that they need to further strengthen their operations, supply chain and logistics as well.

During the session, the cofounder of the profitable D2C brand also talked about how boAt cracked the brand marketing, logistics, and product development part amid intense competition.

The engaging conversation between the two founders also has shed light on personal branding versus brand marketing. The conversation also touched upon topics including Gupta’s time with Shark Tank India, building an INR 1,500 Cr consumer electronics company, facing supply chain challenges and the evolution of D2C in India.
