At the time, when retention of employees is as big a challenge as retaining a customer, Nearbuy looks like the one place, valuing both: consumers and the employees.

And that’s all because of Ankur Warikoo, the founder of Nearbuy, who is quite popular for his failure resume.

In a conversation during Inc42 Facebook Live AMA, Ankur Warikoo shared his thoughts about his experiences, lessons learnt throughout his journey. One lesson we took in our diaries was about his thoughts on consumer culture.

Even though Warikoo believes that building consumer culture around the product is very hard. He shared, “A lot of companies say I want to build the product first and then build the consumer angle to the product but that is rarely said than done. It boils down to how many consumers you speak to every day.”

At Nearbuy, Ankur Warikoo personally addresses nearly 30 customer emails every day, speaks to about 50 customers every week, and all this just to know what their thoughts are on Nearbuy. Through these conversations, lessons are taken to define Nearbuy’s product roadmap based on consumer reactions and interests.

He added, “I am yet to have any feedback coming from a customer that we haven’t thought of already. And that for me is consumer-facing. No other theory or platform or framework will make it easy for you but the fact that you are physically speaking to customers or observing them use your product.”

Of course, being a great marketer is not enough for Ankur Warikoo, and therefore, he has this #LunchwithWarikoo dedicated to his employees. In a post, Ankur Warikoo had shared that since the inception of Nearbuy in 2015, he had started an initiative to have lunch with a colleague every day – in order to know them beyond work. In over one and a half years, he has met more than 220 people.

Here’s look at some of the stories Ankur Warikoo has shared on social media about his employees and the lessons he learns from them.

If this is not boss goals than I don’t know what is!
