In line with its endeavour to transform the way India sells, Amazon has announced the launch of its Global Selling Program in India. The program will open doors for Indian businesses to export to worlds’ ecommerce markets.

Amazon is extending two of its pioneering products – Selling on Amazon (SOA) and Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) to businesses of all sizes and scale from across the country to go Global and showcase their “Made in India” creations and products, to hundreds of millions of customers globally starting with listing on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.

Chad Goelzer, Director Global Sales for Amazon said, “Amazon today offers businesses unprecedented reach to customers around the globe. No longer are they bound by geography with access to Amazon’s over 270 million active customers worldwide. In fact, sellers on Amazon from more than 100 different countries around the world have fulfilled orders to customers in 185 countries utilizing our FBA service. Our Global Selling Program in India is designed to assist Indian manufacturers & businesses to grow their business by leveraging Amazon’s state-of-the-art technology, world class logistics infrastructure and customer service expertise.”

To start with, manufacturers and local brands can export their creations across categories including Apparel, Home Furnishing, Indian Handicraft, Jewelry, Books, Collectibles, Sporting Goods, Handbags, Shoes and Health & Beauty products.

Amazon’s platform, Selling on Amazon will provide compelling international sales channel with no product listing fees, no upfront costs of creating a website or setting up a physical store and secure payments infrastructure.

With Fulfilment by Amazon, the manufacturers and sellers will be able to store their products in Amazon’s warehouse. Amazon will be responsible for packing and delivering the orders to customers, providing customer service and handling returns.

Amazon has created one of the most advanced fulfilment networks in the world and FBA makes it possible for businesses to take advantage of Amazon’s investment in technology and innovation to serve their customers better.

Talking about the massive opportunity for Indian businesses, especially SMEs, Amit Deshpande, Director Seller Services, Amazon India said “In recent years, the growth of global ecommerce has made export of products  an intensifying force in India’s foreign trade, offering millions of enterprises, most of which are small and medium Businesses (SMB’s), an opportunity to expand beyond the domestic market. There is great demand for Indian products, not only from the millions of Indians living abroad but global consumers across ethnicities who benefit from a vast & unique selection at reasonable prices from Indian sellers. We look forward to helping businesses navigate through the complexities of selling globally and develop an international footprint by leveraging the enormous demand for their products across borders and thus transform the way India makes and sells.”

Amazon plans to provide local enablement solutions through verified third party service providers to help Indian business extend globally. The initiatives will include logistics partners, tax consultants and compliance experts to make the process of global selling smooth and friction-free.

Amazon’s global selling team will also help the Indian businesses understand local demand patterns, while also helping sellers improve the discoverability of their products on each marketplace.
