Days after its rival Zomato rolled out ‘Zomato Food Trends’ platform to help its partners make data-driven decisions, Swiggy on Monday (July 17) announced the launch of a dashboard to help the restaurants on the platform plan their expansion.

The dashboard, Network Expansion Insights, will provide the partner restaurants insights derived from Swiggy’s data to help them make informed decisions while selecting the ideal location for their next outlet, Swiggy said in a statement.

“Choosing the right location is paramount for the success of any restaurant. A distance of a few kilometers can make or break an outlet’s success. Understanding this challenge, Swiggy has developed a powerful Network Expansion dashboard to help restaurants with this decision,” it added.

With the platform, restaurant partners will be able to access an interface where they can specify their preferred cuisine, price range, and geography of interest. The dashboard can generate a comprehensive list of potential expansion locations ranked by their viability and potential for success in cities across the country.

Commenting on the move, Siwggy’s food marketplace’s CEO Rohit Kapoor said, “The success of our restaurant partners is the key to our platform’s growth. We’ve developed an innovative tool that gives our restaurant partners access to important data and helps them to strategically choose the ideal locations for their outlets. This empowers them to optimise their chances of success by bridging the gaps in demand and supply for specific cuisines on our platform.”

Swiggy claimed that over 100 partners have already used the Network Expansion Insights dashboard. The dashboard is now available to all of Swiggy’s restaurant partners to use in a self-serve format.

The country’s food delivery market is largely a Swiggy-Zomato duopoly, with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) just about emerging as some sort of competitor in the space. As such, Zomato and Swiggy are locked in a tight battle to gain market share and continue to take measures to outdo each other.

Earlier this year, a day before Zomato was scheduled to release its financial results for the quarter ended March 2023, Swiggy CEO said that its food delivery business achieved profitability as of March 2023.

Meanwhile, Zomato said its business, excluding quick commerce platform Blinkit, turned adjusted EBITDA positive in Q4 FY23.

Swiggy is also looking at launching a co-branded credit card in partnership with HDFC Bank. Meanwhile, Zomato had such an offering for a long time with RBL Bank, which they discontinued earlier this year.

Recently, Swiggy also unveiled a new feature called WhatTo Eat that allows users to explore options based on their mood and cravings.
