After disrupting the auto-rickshaw booking market in Bengaluru through Namma Yatri, Juspay Technologies has launched a new ride-hailing app Mana Yatri in Hyderabad.
The app is part of the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and will allow users to book autos as well as cabs. For drivers, it offers a zero-commission model.
The app has been launched with the support from the Telangana government and incubator T-Hub.
Commenting on the launch, T-Hub CEO Mahankali Srinivas Rao said, “This app is a testament to Hyderabad’s spirit of innovation and the government’s commitment to empowering drivers while offering affordable transportation to people.”
Chiming in, Shaik Salauddin, founder state president of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU), said, “We congratulate Mana Yatri for developing a direct-to-driver, open mobility platform to empower our community and offer fair pay and mutual respect.”
Mana Yatri is part of the Namma Yatri family of apps, which currently boasts 2.1+ lakh drivers, 50+ lakh customers, and has completed 2.7+ Cr trips.
The mobility app offers an enhanced user experience for special zone pickups and aims to improve first and last-mile connectivity by integrating with public transport.
With the ONDC Network, Mana Yatri benefits from a broader technological infrastructure and a larger potential customer base.
Mana Yatri claims to have already onboarded over 25,000 drivers in Hyderabad and aims to onboard 1 lakh drivers in the next three months.
The development comes at a time when Namma Yatri is on an expansion spree. The auto-hailing app, in partnership with ONDC, recently entered the Chennai and Delhi markets.
It claims to be already a prominent player in seven cities, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
Developed by Juspay and backed by Nandan Nilekani’s Beckn Foundation, the Namma Yatri app was launched in late 2022 to take on the likes of Ola and Uber, which face dissatisfaction from the drivers for the commissions charged by them.
