ZINIER, an enterprise field operations startup, has raised an undisclosed amount in Series A round of funding led by Accel Partners. European Investors New Fund, StartX and existing angel investors Kunal Bahl, Rohit Bansal and Ken Glass also participated in this funding round.

In an email interaction, ZINIER Co-founder Arka Dhar confirmed the funding announcement.

“This year armed with our new platform (ZINIER2.0) and fresh funding, we will primarily focus on market expansion. Significant investments will continue to be made on product and engineering as well to ensure that we stay well ahead of the curve on our competition, but the focus will be taking ZINIER to large customers across three continents,” he shared.

ZINIER: Leveraging PaaS opportunities At Enterprises, SME’s And IT Service Providers

Launched in 2015 by Dhar and Andrew Wolf, ZINIER aims to create a powerful software platform that can quickly and easily create software incorporating state of the art technology that will empower the next-gen mobile workers.

“Delays and budget over-runs are usual in all software development, and one of the key stumbling blocks is that customization and integrations still require hard-coding and intervention from engineers. This is where ZINIER’s Low Code Platform-as-a-Service comes into play,” added Arka.

As claimed by the founders, ZINIER’s code base allows them to do customisation on the front-end on the platform so it is easy to make changes both during deployment and even after the software is deployed. “There are huge opportunities for ZINIER’s platform both in large enterprises & SMEs, and IT service providers that are helping to create software to accelerate the time-to-value for customers,” he added.

The Clientele, The Team And The Goals Ahead

The team is currently serving some of the largest (telecommunication) companies, and have strong partnerships with world-class IT service delivery companies. ZINIER founders further boast of a diverse team of almost 50 individuals from over nine countries (Singapore, Chile, Mexico, Netherlands, Indonesia. India, Russia, Ukraine, US) across six offices [Singapore, Mexico, Chile, US (San Francisco), US (Miami), India) ].

“One of the key principles of the ZINIER way is respect – understanding that we can from diverse background and cultures and treating each other with respect. We are also fortunate to have strong leaders and advisors in every market that has helped us to effectively navigate the markets that we are in,” added Arka.

As ZINIER’s platform is industry agnostic, the team now aims to reach more industry verticals and empower their mobile workers.

“ZINIER is an example of many things that we believe at Accel – a mobile-first design philosophy can help create new opportunities, it’s important to build products for the lifecycle of engagement with the customer, and companies can address global markets earlier in their lifetime,” said Dinesh Katiyar, partner, Accel Partners.

Existing Opportunities In The Global PaaS Markets

As per research reports, the global market for Platform as a Service (PaaS) is projected to reach $7.5 Bn by 2020. Asia Pacific ranks as the fastest growing regional market for application platform as a service provider with robust growth of IT infrastructure as well as high development rate of the corporate sector across countries like China, India, Philippines and others.

The key drivers of this growth are the growing capital investment on application development for mobile, web and enterprise and the technology advancements in PaaS services.

The key vendors in the application platform as a service market include Microsoft Corporation, Salesforce.com Inc., IBM Corporation, Mendix Inc., Progress Software Corporation, Red Hat Inc., SAP SE, Engine Yard Inc., Software AG, Miosoft Corporation and others.

How well the latest funding round can help ZINIER to capitalise upon the existing opportunity in the PaaS sector amid the existing brigade of players, will be something to watch for.
