has now introduced a 10-20 minute delivery service in selected regions across India.

While FreshToHome usually delivers orders within 60 minutes, the quick deliveries will depend on the consumer’s proximity to the nearest dark store.

FreshToHome founder Shan Kadavil told Inc42 that the startup began offering quick deliveries about two months ago.

Founded in 2015 by serial entrepreneurs Kadavil and Mathew Joseph, the D2C fish and meat brand is currently operational in 160 cities in India and 27 cities in the UAE. It also sells its products via ecommerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart, as well as quick commerce marketplaces such as Zomato-owned Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart.

Besides earning revenue from the sale of products, the startup also charges a platform fee of INR 4 per order in some cities across the country.

FreshToHome has cumulatively raised around $377 Mn in funding to date. It last raised $104 Mn in a Series D funding round led by Amazon Sambhav Venture Fund, with participation from E20 Investment, Mount Judi Ventures, as well as existing investors such as Investcorp, among others.

On the financial front, the D2C brand narrowed its standalone net loss for its India operations by 52.18% to INR 149.73 Cr in the financial year 2023-24 (FY24) from INR 313.17  Cr in the previous fiscal year. Revenue jumped around 15X to INR 369.55 Cr in the fiscal under review from INR 24.91 Cr in FY23.

FreshToHome competes against the likes of Zappfresh and Licious in the Indian D2C meat market, which is reportedly projected to become a $119.36 Mn market opportunity by 2030.

FreshToHome’s foray into the 10-20 minute delivery segment comes at a time when the country is witnessing multiple brands embrace the quick commerce model. Besides incumbents such as Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and Blinkit, the space has also seen the entry of giants such as Flipkart Minutes, Nykaa, and Myntra.

As per a report, the homegrown quick commerce market is projected to become a $9.9 Bn opportunity by 2029.
