What is APAAR ID? Why Is It Important?

APAAR stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry

Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) stores the records of academic credits deposited by institutions. The account number to access the same is called APAAR ID or ABC ID.

APAAR covers the entire education ecosystem, allowing storage and management of academic credits, degrees, and achievements via Digilocker.

To make their APAAR ID, a student needs to log in to DigiLocker, search and select their institution and then complete the registration process.

Benefits Of APAAR ID

As all the academic records are present at a single place, accessible through APAAR IDs, eliminates the need for physical verification, making application process faster.

The old format of verification was slow and dull, leading to the creation of fake documents, this in turn will be solved via APAAR’s much faster system.

If a document is lost, it takes months to get a copy. Students can now offer instant access to digitised and authenticated credits as often as required.
