Thiruvananthapuram-based KTCT Higher Secondary School is now home to a GenAI-powered saree-clad robot teacher, called Iris. The brainchild behind this robot is Kochi-based edtech startup, Makerlabs.
Robot Teacher's Capabilities
According to the startup, Iris is a pioneer in STEM education for high school students. It is the first of its kind, fostering innovation and offering text-to-speech lessons in three languages.

Iris, with Intel processors, uses motion recognition and simple gestures, has a voice-controlled assistant, and employs personalized AI teaching for enhanced classroom understanding.

Iris offers interactive quizzes and dialogue. It enforces discipline by staying silent in noisy classrooms, performing experiments, holding objects, and freely moving around for a hands-on learning experience."
