Freshma's Rise from Fish Stall to Seafood Retail

Rajesh Kumar, along with his brothers and a childhood friend, launched Freshma in February 2022, pivoting from B2B to D2C.

Entrepreneurial Journey

Rajesh’s journey began in 2016 with a single fish stall, inspired by his father’s work in the Tamil Nadu Fisheries department.

Product Range and Sales Channels

Freshma offers a variety of seafood through its website, app, and eight offline stores in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Financial Backing and Growth

Started with a 20 Lakh loan, Freshma now serves 85K customers monthly and generates INR 2.1 Cr in revenue.

Rajesh Kumar serves as the Managing Director, while his brothers are directors, and Paranthaman G is the group CEO.

Pandemic Pivot

The pandemic led to a strategic pivot to D2C, focusing on high-quality, hook-caught seafood directly from fishermen.

Expansion and Future Plans

Freshma plans to open more stores, expand to Coimbatore, Bengaluru, and Trichy, and is seeking a 20 Cr seed funding round for further growth.
