Unacademy & BYJU's under scrutiny for false UPSC alumni success claims.

According to CNBC-TV18, CCPA has reserved its order on Unacademy's UPSC prep segment for alleged false advertising about alumni success.

INR 1 Lakh fines were imposed on Chahal Academy, IQRA IAS, and Rau’s IAS Study Circle; BYJU’s under investigation for similar tactics.

While 933 students were selected after the final result of UPSC 2022, ads by 10 surveyed institutes claimed that 3,500 of their alumni made the cut.

According to a CCPA investigation, it has been found that five UPSC coaching institutes have claimed the same individual as their alumni.

Notices have been sent to 20 UPSC-prep institutes, including BYJU’s, out of which many have paid the fines.

The trickle-down can lead to govt putting regulatory action on NEET and JEE prep platforms.
