The logistics sector and the supply chain, as a whole, have undergone critical changes in recent times. For decades, businesses and their end users supposed logistics was all about transportation and storage, speed and efficiency. Not any more. Today, it has emerged as a specialised sector, ensuring end-to-end planning and management of goods, providing value-added services and making the most of AI-ML-driven predictive analytics to reduce costs and mitigate supply chain risks.

Closer home, a burgeoning digital retail sector, including ecommerce and quick-commerce, rapid expansion in manufacturing and favourable government policies are driving the industry. According to an IMARC report, the logistics market in India is projected to reach $428.7 Bn by 2033 from $228.4 Bn in 2024, at a CAGR of 6.5%. However, logistics can be further driven by India’s phenomenal quick commerce boom, projected to reach $40 Bn by 2030, at a CAGR of 37% during 2024-2030 (per an Inc42 report) — 2x the growth of traditional ecommerce at 19%.

This is more than a massive logistics opportunity. Rapid technology advancements and consumer demand for speed and convenience are reshaping supply chains, with data, AI and automation at the core. Essentially, any business worth its salt requires a reliable logistics platform that seamlessly integrates fleets and operations, enables hybrid delivery models (in-house, 2PL, 3PL, drop-ship and more), and helps accelerate the adoption of digital networks like ONDC.

Set up by Ratnesh Verma and Rushil Mohan in 2019, Pidge aims to redefine logistics in that way, providing an AI-powered logistics intelligence platform for businesses of all sizes. The B2B SaaS startup offers customisable logistics solutions,  operates a pan-India network of 5 lakh+ delivery partners and works with more than 13K brands. It claims more than 20 Mn deliveries and a tenfold revenue growth in FY25. Pidge reported annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $8 Mn for that year and aims to surpass $70 Mn by the end of FY26. It also seeks to achieve a 90% customer retention rate.

“The Indian market remains fragmented and largely non-digitalised — challenges we aim to solve with advanced AI,” Verma, the cofounder-CEO of Pidge, told Inc42 in a recent interaction. “By developing a unified platform, we are bringing all constituents together for seamless operations.”

How Pidge AI Empowers 13K+ Brands, Brings 10-Minute Delivery Vision To Life

According to Verma, Pidge’s Titan is the industry’s first AI-powered rider management and order allocation engine. It is designed to optimise fleet utilisation and streamline resource deployment to improve delivery speeds for its B2B clientele.

In Q3 2024 (July-September), Pidge powered India’s first-ever 10-minute food delivery, enabling businesses like Swish to scale rapidly without logistical hurdles. This feat was possible due to the startup’s auto-order allocation, real-time order clubbing and first-in-first-out (FIFO) order management, allowing businesses to focus on their core competencies instead of logistics management.

“When the rapid food delivery platform Swish was launched, it chose Pidge’s technology. The startup trusted that we could bring its 10-minute delivery vision to life. We delivered on that promise with more than 94% accuracy and reliability, which has helped them scale significantly,” said Verma.

It is not just Swish, though. The logistics platform supports more than 13K brands, including storied ones like Paytm, Tata 1mg, Zomato, Swiggy, Royce Chocolate and Eat Club, enabling fast and secure deliveries at scale.

Pidge Brings Enterprise-Grade SaaS To Smartphones For Q-Commerce Launch

Verma, a staunch advocate for ONDC’s mission to digitalise every business in India, spoke about Pidge’s unique role as the ecosystem’s only multi-layer integration and service partner. Unlike other logistics providers, it functions as a logistics buying network partner (LBNPs manage not just logistics but the entire supply chain for businesses) and a technical services provider (TSP) for the government-backed initiative.

“Pidge has brought enterprise-grade SaaS to mobile phones, which has been a game changer. With this technology, anyone can launch their delivery company in under 10 minutes using a smartphone. This has allowed us to delve deep into Tier II and III markets and explore the unorganised sector. To transform the ecosystem and redefine logistics, we must focus on uplifting 87% of the market that remains digitally deprived,” the founder said.

To strengthen its partnerships within the ONDC ecosystem, the startup plans to expand its logistics network from 200 to more than 1K cities in 2025. Additionally, Pidge will offer its white-label logistics SaaS solutions to large enterprises and multi-enterprise conglomerates, test EV fleets, and develop green delivery models to reduce carbon footprints and increase fungible coverage.
