For the #19 episode of Inc42’s AMA Show we’ll be hosting a guest who was one of the pioneers of social media platforms, Orkut Büyükkökten, Creator of Orkut and Founder of Hello Network.
Orkut was among the initial social networks that revolutionised the way people connected and communicated online. Launched in 2004, only a month before Facebook, Orkut enjoyed massive popularity in Brazil and India, so much so that it became the most visited website in India & Brazil in 2008.

About Orkut Büyükkökten
Orkut Büyükkökten is a software engineer and an entrepreneur who started creating social networks from the early 2000s. He was a Product Manager at Google where he independently worked on Orkut platform and overlooked its operations and growth in the years after its launch.
After Google decided to retire Orkut in 2014, he then started working on a new social network, the Hello Network which has started to gain momentum as an alternative to Facebook after the Cambridge Analytica fiasco.
Originally from Turkey, Orkut completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Bilkent University and a PhD from Stanford University, post which he joined Google.
