Inc42 Daily Brief
Stay Ahead With Daily News & Analysis on India’s Tech & Startup Economy
Beauty is ubiquitous. Happiness is beautiful. There are people happily walking down the streets, beloved friends who make us laugh when we are sad, considerate people going out of their respective ways to help others, indefatigable youth striving to make a difference in the society, intrepid politicians working hard for their constituencies. Each one of us comes across such stories that bring smile on our faces, inspire us and motivate us to lead our lives with hope.
South Asian Good News trades in happiness. They feel happy by spreading good, developmental news. It is a platform, a marketplace, to enable people to share inspiring stories. Their zealous aim is simple, to share the refulgent rays of positivity for humans to see, feel and imbibe.
South Asian Good News incorporates crowdsourcing to spread good news. The idea is simple; whenever you come across any ‘good news’ you share it with fellow subscribers at SAGNC. If everyone in the community does this, South Asian Good News would be a one stop shop for you to get inspirational stories shared by harmonious people. This would help in building an ecosystem connecting like-hearted people who believe in the transformational power of inspirational, happy, good news.
The idea of SAGNC was conceived in 2011. Prashant Mehta, who was part of the Indian delegation to South Asian Youth Conference, got a chance to meet the youth leaders from other SAARC nations. Having stayed with them for a week, he realized that our image of the neighboring countries contrasts with reality. Indeed, after the conference his views on Pakistan and people of Pakistan changed. This catalyzed him to start South Asian Good News Channel to promote cross border friendship by sharing inspirational and good news from across the SAARC nations.
Their imminent goal is to have a 30 minutes slot in radio channels across SAARC region where good news from all these countries are broadcast in regional languages – this could bring to life, the onerous, seemingly unachievable dream of a “United SAARC”.
South Asian Good News is a voluntary organization. Prashant Mehta is the founder. Deepthi Ravada leads the Operations and Deekshith V manages the marketing efforts.
