The FSSAI-approved F&B brand uses natural superfoods to make an all-vegan range and promises four to eight grams of protein per serving
The Origin Story
Parul Sharma, an FMCG veteran with more than 15 years of experience and a mother of two, was in for a shock when she found that her elder son was suffering from protein deficiency. It is a common health problem in India as diets here tend to be carbohydrate-heavy instead of protein-rich. However, searching for delicious high-protein foods suitable for kids yielded few results. So, Parul and her brother, Manu Sharma, teamed up to launch Gladful, a tasty alt-protein range that would help children’s growth and wow the Indian palate. After raising INR 50 Lakh from Shark Tank India 2.0, the nutrition brand gained huge traction and its products are now sold on its website, ecommerce marketplaces and quick commerce platforms, in retail stores and via vending machines. Gladful posted INR 3 Cr revenue in FY23, a 30x jump from INR 10 Lakh in FY22.
The Differentiator
The FSSAI-approved F&B brand uses natural superfoods like sprouts, amaranth, millet, legume and lobia (cowpea) to make a vegan range, including high-protein breakfast, sprouted chillas and dosas, roasted munchies, cookies and desserts. Its products are made at partner facilities in Jaipur and Faridabad, following a five-step process to retain purity and nutrients. Gladful promises four to eight grams of protein per serving and does not use artificial colour, trans fat, maida, refined sugar or preservatives.
What’s Next
Gladful will launch a new and affordable product range in 2024 and strengthen its distribution in Delhi NCR. In the long term, it will work closely with families (especially moms) to create new categories of protein-rich and delectable Indian foods.
