Ecommerce marketplace Snapdeal will be available in Hindi and Telegu from January 26, 2016, to help its users overcome language barriers and shop online in their preferred regional language.
With this, the portal will cover languages including Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Assamese, Punjabi and English.
This development will help Snapdeal to expand its reach to an additional 130 Mn smartphone users in India, who use internet in regional languages.
Snapdeal’s multilingual user interface has been developed on the basis of the feedback it received from both its buyers and sellers. A multilingual project team was created within Snapdeal to ensure a consistent user experience in each language. It is built on top of Snaplite, Snapdeal’s website for mobile browser. The multi-lingual platform combines translation, trans-literation and grammar check to deliver relevant experience in each language.
Speaking on the development, Rohit Bansal, co-founder at Snapdeal said, “Our decision to go multi-lingual is driven by the feedback that we have received from our users. We are sure this will enable millions of new users to join the digital commerce revolution that is sweeping across India. Snapdeal’s multi-lingual platform will redefine the rules of the game and will allow sellers and buyers from all across India to explore and transact without any constraints of language.”
The platform allows users to pick the language of their choice for browsing, for payments and for order tracking.
