Gurgaon-based Prachalit Infomedia Pvt Ltd, which founded Shopwati, an online fashion community, has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from Sanjiv Rai of SRKK Advisors.
Founded in 2015 by by Mehak Suri and Ankit Bajaj, Shopwati, helps its women shoppers find clothes and accessories with the help of 55,000+ community members that comprises of stylists, bloggers, private labels, designers, brands and many other users talking about fashion. Built around conversations, the Shopwati community helps its users find products, take a poll on what to buy & discover fashion.
The founders state that unlike many other fashion discovery startups, Shopwati is not just about finding fashion inspiration, but it aims to help people procure it. Shopwati helps individuals find stylish clothes & accessories, which they are looking for, through community vendors, users and bloggers in best deal.
Ankit Bajaj, co-founder and CEO of Shopwati said, “We aim to build a strong community which helps each other make better fashion choices. Unlike every other Fashion Discovery App, Shopwati is not just about finding fashion inspiration, it aims to help people who want to act on it”
Shopwati plans to utilise the raised capital to fund its next phase of technology development and reach out to customers & vendors in cities outside Delhi. It also launched the preview of their Android app recently.
The startup claims to address over 300 queries per day and has crossed a GMV of over INR 1.5 Cr, in just six months. They claim that more than 95% queries get answered in 24 hours and the conversion rate is over 35%.
Shopwati competes with other fashion discovery app like Wooplr that raised an undisclosed amount of funding from co-founders of InMobi, WithMe that raised $250K funding from angel investors.
