SeekSherpa, a mobile platform that connects travellers and locals over unique experiences, has been selected to the Google for Entrepreneurs Exchange Program to be held in Dubai by Astrolabs between December 5 to11, 2016. The startup is one of the 12 selected from a batch of over 100 applicants from the USA, Europe, Middle East North Africa, and rest of Asia, and the only one to be selected from India.
The Exchange Program is focused on travel entrepreneurship, building B2B contacts in the travel and hospitality world, helping take Dubai to 20 Mn inbound tourists by 2020, working closely with leadership from Emirates group and Jumeirah group, and establishing enough of a network to go global soon.
SeekSherpa works with interested locals (Sherpas) in a city in co-curating unique experiences at the right price and time for curious travellers looking for local immersion in the city they are travelling to. Founded by Dhruv Raj Gupta and Sukhmani Singh, the startup underwent acceleration program with VentureNursery and was later funded by members associated with VentureNursery in July 2014.
The startup has serviced over 4000 customers since January 2015 and operates in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Agra. SeekSherpa focuses on creating a community of Sherpas, within each city, that rely on each other for various resources and feed of each other’s enthusiasm. Becoming a Sherpa at SeekSherpa is an application based procedure and involves signing up to be one.
