Mcommerce giant Paytm has tied up with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and as a part of the agreement, Delhi Metro travellers will be able to recharge their metro cards via Paytm and DMRC website.
The announcement was made on the company’s blog and the service was launched on Friday. The move is made in a bid to make traveling by Metro a hassle free experience for over 2.3 Mn commuters that use the Metro train service on a daily basis.
The company statement said that it hopes the move will not only reduce the check-in time of passengers but will also motivate other daily commuters who travel on their own to take up Metro as their preferred way to commute.
The metro cards can be recharged through Paytm’s app, website, and also via DMRC website.
Users can view all the top ups done as they transact and can use Debit/Credit Card or Net Banking or wallet (Paytm) to pay online for an instant recharge. As per DMRC website the steps include-
1. Enter the amount and card information.
2. Secure pay through Payment Modes (Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/Paytm Wallet).
3. Go to AVMs installed at all DMRC Metro Stations (Except Airport Express Line) near EFO (Excess Fare Office)/Customer Care.
So, post recharge, the commuters will have to validate the recharge by tapping their cards at the Automatic Vending Machines (AVMs) which are available at all metro stations.
This comes after DMRC made an announcement in January 2016, that customers who order goods from ecommerce sites can now get their orders delivered at 10 Delhi-Metro stations from February 2016 onwards.
