Haptik Inc., a customer-based chat services company, has announced its partnership with online cab aggregator Ola. As part of the deal, users will be able to book Ola cabs through instant messaging on the Haptik mobile app.
500,000 users of Haptik in 102 cities, where Ola is currently functional, can avail the service.
Speaking on the development, Sudarshan Gangrade, Vice President of Marketing at Ola said, “Through this first of its kind integration, users can now book a cab end-to-end over chat on the Haptik app. Through such partnerships, we are furthering our mission of building mobility for a billion Indians.”
This is Haptik’s third big alliance after it partnered with ClearTrip for flights and hotel bookings and RedBus for bus ticketing.
Founded in 2013 by Aakrit Vaish and Swapan Rajdev, Haptik describes itself as everyone’s personal assistant to get things done over chat. Users can get several chores done across various categories such as shopping, travel, food etc. with a text message.
The company raised a total of $1.1 Mn in funding from Kalaari Capital and others.
Recently Ola has been in the news for its various business-consolidating alliances.Last week it had partnered with MapmyIndia, a digital map data services company, by acquiring a multi-year license for an undisclosed amount. Earlier in November, it had reportedly acquired Chennai-based Geotagg, a startup focused on intelligent transportation systems for an undisclosed amount. Earlier this year, in March, it had acquired TaxiForSure.
The online cab aggregator claims to hold about 80% of the market share in the taxi-hailing service.
