Gurgaon-based mycity4kids, has raised $3 Mn from SIDBI Venture Capital Limited and YourNest Angel Fund.
With the funding, the startup plans to achieve a milestone to have 5 Mn mothers using the platform every day in the next 18 months and achieve operational break-even in 12 months.
Launched in October 2010, mycity4kids, is an online platform that helps multitasking mothers manage the task of modern-day parenting better. Its USP lies in the fact that startup offers hyper-local discovery platform for kids resources and events and unique content from a community of Mommy blogger and Parenting experts.
The startup claims to have about a million parents visiting the website every month. It recorded 2.5 Mn pageviews and has 700 bloggers and 75,000 service providers listed across 9 cities on its platform.
Sunil Goyal, CEO of YourNest Angel Fund said, “There is plenty of room to grow the platform, however, with over 50mn Mums online in the country and doubling every 3 years. Highlighting the intrinsic strength of this customer base. The size and value of the Mum demographic are what made us invest in mycity4kids 3 years back and we’re excited by their plans to become indispensable for every Mum”.
The startup plans to launch various mobile-led initiatives starting with the recent launch of the mycity4kids Family Organizer app. The app has a Shared Calendar and To-Do list which allows mothers to organise the kids schedule and enlist support from the spouse/support system in daily parenting. The app also enables mothers to discover resources and events for kids in the city and to learn from the shared experiences of other parent and expert blogs. The other product that will soon be launched by the company is Mum-specific group chat platform integrated with calendar and to-do list.
