On Demand Automobile Servicing App MotoMojo Raises Angel Funding

App-based vehicle maintenance startup MotoMojo has raised an undisclosed amount of angel funding from the founders of Ventes Avenues.

The three co-founders of Ventes Avenues, Niloufer Dundh, Fauzan Rahim and Balamurugan Mani, have invested in the startup in their personal capacity.

Mumbai-based MotoMojo was founded in 2015 by Uttam Arjun. It aims at revitalising the automobile service industry. MotoMojo helps car and bike owners to take care of vehicle by offering services at an affordable cost. The startup currently has presence in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane.

Ventes Avenues’ co-founder Fauzan Rahim said, “This is a very fragmented space and we see a lot of potential in it. Since everything is moving the ‘app way’, this is a great product as it helps remove uncertainty which consumers face when they go to a local mechanic or garage.”

MotoMojo services about 50 vehicles a day at present and has a network of over 2,200 service providers. It connects users to local garages and vendors using an app-based on-demand hyperlocal model.

Founder Uttam Arjun said that the funds will be used for building the product and the team, as well as customer acquisition. He also said that the startup will focus on gaining a robust leadership position in the city before moving on to other cities like Pune, followed by either Delhi or Bengaluru by the end of the year.

The users are directed to the nearest providers of the service they are looking for. They can opt to contact the service provider directly or raise a request with the startup. The services range from routine oil change, a bike or car wash, brake lining or an engine checkup, complete servicing to car washing, changing tyres, etc.

Prior to this in March 2016, Bangalore-based bike and scooter repair service provider, DrivoJoy, raised about $600K (INR 4 Cr) in its Pre series A round of funding from Indian Angel Network and others. Other players include online bike service and repairs platform, gear6.in, car care service provider Bumper,  automotive services marketplace startup Cartisan, etc.

The development was first reported by ET.
