As a part of the deal, HouseJoy has acquired the trainers of Orobind, the customers base and the technology. The entire Orobind team will also be moving to Housejoy.
Launched in 2014 by two IIT graduates Satya Vyas and Shubhanshu Shrivastava, Orobind app, connects fitness freaks to trusted personal coaches. The startup provides ‘at home’ services for fitness through a subscription-based model. Currently, the startup is serving more than 1000 customers in Bangalore alone with around 135 active personal trainers on the platform.
The company had raised angel funding from Ramakant Sharma, Harpreet Singh Grover, Lalit Mangal and Zishaan Hayath.

We feel that by leveraging Orobind’s customers set, underlying technology and the domain expertise, Housejoy can expedite the process of becoming the leader in the wellness category. Orobind has been ahead of almost everyone in this category in terms of numbers and tech reliability and most importantly has a team that understands the category the most.”
As for Housejoy, it was launched in January 2015 by Arjun Kumar and Sunil Goel. The startup provides on-demand house cleaning service. Besides, it also offers in-house computer repairs, beauty treatments, bridal services, maintenance and home repairs. Additionally, it will also take care of laundry and dry cleaning, with pickup and delivery right at your doorstep.
The company takes a 10-25% cut of the service, depending on the service it provides.
Currently, Housejoy is operational in 13 cities across the nation. And it has raised $4 Mn funding in series A from Matrix Partners and has raised $22.5 Mn in Series B led by Amazon and included new investors Vertex Ventures, Qualcomm and Ru-Net Technology Partners.
This is Housejoy’s second acquisition, prior to this, it had acquired an online laundry services player MyWash, for an undisclosed amount.
Recently in this space, Bangalore-based Zimmber acquired its smaller rival, Gurgaon-based competitor FindYahan, while local services marketplace UrbanClap acquired after sales services platform HandyHome.
