Ecommerce marketplace Flipkart has partnered with Shaw Academy, which claims to be the world’s largest live online educator. The move will enable Flipkart to provide a range of online certified courses focused on practical skills on its portal.
The alliance was announced as an Irish government delegation visited the Shaw Academy office in Bengaluru during a five-day ‘Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission’ to India. Initially, Flipkart customers will have access to a four -week photography course delivered by Shaw Academy.
Shaw Academy currently teaches 400,000 new students every month and the agreement with Flipkart builds on both companies ethos of reducing cost and providing high quality solutions to customers.
Commenting at the launch Adarsh K Menon, VP – Electronics at Flipkart said, “Photography as a hobby has grown in India over the years, as rightly reflected by the steady growth of Flipkart’s cameras & camera accessories category. This association with Shaw Academy is a step forward in offering our customers added benefits and allowing them to find the right products at competitive prices on Flipkart.”
Shaw Academy was launched four years ago and is self-funded to date. This year, it surpassed teaching over 1.84 Mn students. The subjects range from business-related topics such as digital marketing and web development to wellness programmes such as health & ftness and sports nutrition and everything in between. All courses are delivered live, thus ensuring the most up to date trends can be covered and students interact in real time with the educators which boost completion rates.
