The Delhi International Airport Authority Ltd (DIAL), which operates Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, has reportedly launched India’s first airport e-shopping platform – Shopflydel.
Shopflydel is currently available for domestic passengers. According to an official statement, through this facility, one can book the product(s) of their choice from 30 days up to 12 hours before their flight in three simple steps – Click-Pick-Fly.
As per I Prabhakara Rao, CEO of DIAL, “Shopflydel.in creates a niche market for Delhi Airport in the ecommerce space. Today more than 70% of passengers travelling through Delhi Airport use smartphones. We will soon add more travellers’ friendly features and value added services to this first-of-its-kind interactive airport shopping portal for travellers.”

According to an official statement, shoppers can have access to products from 20 categories such as beauty, confectionery, fashion, souvenirs, pens etc. sold across Terminal 3 and Terminal 1 domestic outlets. Products can be searched and chosen from the menu listed under terminal category, its sub-category or even by outlet. Users can then collect their pre-ordered items from respective outlets by making payments through cash or card.
“The online shopping portal is a platform for the smart and savvy travellers to purchase a wide range of products available at the airport without any hassle. This arrangement will benefit passengers in a big way as they will have access to exciting online deals, special offers, and also fast track delivery upon reaching the respective outlets at the airport,” added Prabhakara.
This move has been made keeping in mind India’s recent demonetisation drive that has led to almost 86% of the country’s cash being rendered unusable. With Shopflydel, the airport plans to facilitate the transition towards a cashless economy sooner rather than later.
