CIIE Calling Out Healthcare Startups For Its New Accelerator Program

IIM Ahmedabad’s technology business incubator, Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), has launched a Healthcare Accelerator, in partnership with The Dasra Girl Alliance.

The 3-month-program aims to accelerate, nurture and invest in innovative early stage startups in the healthcare space.

The selected startups that will constitute the programme cohort, will be individually mentored by experts in the domain and leverage the wide networks of CIIE, Dasra, C-CAMP and InnoVen Capital for industry connects.

The startups will also get an opportunity to showcase their enterprises to a consortium of active investors on the Investor Demo Day as a part of the programme. Through the accelerator, startups that meet CIIE’s criteria of ‘investible’ (maximum of two startups) will be selected for a seed investment commitment of up to $100K (INR 70 Lakh) followed by mentoring and advisory support provided by CIIE’s portfolio team.

Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship was setup at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) with support from Gujarat Government and Department of Science and Technology (Government of India) to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in India.

Prior to this, in January 2016, Ahmedabad-based WIMWI Foods, a startup that brings healthy food ingredients & snacks to Indian kitchens and offices, raised an undisclosed amount of funding from CIIE.

With the new accelerator programme, CIIE aims to identify startups working towards advancement in the healthcare industry, particularly in the areas of medical devices, healthcare IT and biotech.

The programme mentors include experts such as IIM Ahmedabad professors, K. V. Ramani and Piyush Sinha; Ketan R Patel (chairman and M.D. at Troikaa Pharmaceuticals); Chandrashekar K (founder and CEO of Forus Health) among others.
