The ORIGIN STORY
Having worked closely with startups and investment firms since his young days, founder Rajat Jadhav had a keen eye for what’s going on in the world of ecommerce. He saw that urban Indians are moving away from marketplaces to vertical platforms and the future of the sector will be in specialised ecommerce platforms that can set themselves apart from horizontal platforms. During their research, Jadhav and the three other founders realised that men’s health and wellness issues are not on the radar for the major players and this is where they could find a niche for Bold Care.
The GROWTH
In the first full year of being live, the company reported nearly $1 Mn in revenue. It claims to be currently doing more than INR 1 Cr in monthly revenue, as of January, 2022, growing at close to 20% since October 2021. In 18 months of operations, Bold Care has amassed 2.5 Lakh users.
The DIFFERENTIATOR
While many other health brands have ventured into men’s health and sexual wellness, Bold Care is looking to create an ecosystem of experts that men can rely on for all kinds of problems. More than 90 Mn Indian men face sexual health issues, higher than the total diabetes patients in India. The Mumbai-based startup offers free teleconsultations with expert physicians for a range of ailments. The licensed specialists with 10+ years of experience assist customers throughout their journey.
The JOURNEY
From servicing 100 customers in July 2020, the startup has seen rapid growth in the past 18 months, and scaled up to more than 25,000 monthly users as of January 2022, Jadhav claimed. Bold Care offers a mix of allopathy and natural products to address issues such as erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, hair fall, contraception. It also caters to immunity, sleep and other physical issues through supplements, which are tested by an NABLaccredited lab, like all its products.
What’s NEXT
Post its Pre-Series A round in January 2022, Bold Care is looking to dive deeper into more holistic solutions that are backed by its experts, andrologists and urologists. These will be supplemented by innovative products as well as services. By 2025, the startup wants to not just become a wellness brand but also a safe space and community for men to discuss health issues freely. It will look to provide auxiliary services such as personal health assistants for personalised care solutions. In three years, Jadhav envisions Bold Care to have subcategories solving a range of issues for the modern Indian.
