TiE Hyderabad & a-IDEA to Organize a Boot Camp for Agri Entrepreneurs
- Selected Agri startups to get incubation support and opportunity to pitch for funding
- Indian Food tech startups attracted 64 investment deals out of 526 deals globally, 2 nd after US in 2015
The objective of the Agri boot camp is to sensitize the early stage along with aspiring entrepreneurs and extend incubation support to promising,innovative start-ups in Agri sector. The session would be open for entrepreneurs with ideas, prototypes and early stage agri startups. The shortlisted startups would make pitch before a panel of experts, mentors and VCs and the selected startups would get incubation support as well. The speakers for the session include Mr. PVGK Murthy – Director,Ingrain Technologies, Mr. Prabhir Mishra – Managing Partner, Saatra Capital Advisory and Dr. R Kalpana Sastry – Joint Director, NAARM & VP, a-IDEA.
Agri startup ecosystem is getting continuous boost in India, since the launch of Startup India program.
As per agfunder.com, out of total 526 investment deals made in 2015 worth US$ 4.6 Billion, US startups led by attracting 303 deals followed by India with 64 deals.While announcing the Agri Boot Camp, Ms. Sreedevi Devireddy Executive Director, TiE Hyderabad said, “India is facing unique challenges in attracting the external investments as many of the investors are conservative to invest in agriculture due to lack of proper understanding of industry dynamics, in fact even if the investment is made, for faster scalability, next series of fund is hard to find for Agri-entrepreneurs as the returns are very slow and at the top of everything, investors do have options to invest in startups in other sectors other than Agri. This Agri Boot Camp would provide an apt opportunity to the agri entrepreneurs for mentoring from the experts, networking with industry peers and pitching their ideas to the VCs.”
