Zoom Events will be available for free events to Indian users
Video conferencing platform Zoom has launched ‘Zoom Events’, which enables users to produce immersive and engaging virtual experiences on one platform, in India.
Zoom Events provides the features of Zoom Webinars, Zoom Meetings and Team Chat in one platform to offer a comprehensive solution to event organisers. It is designed to help facilitate and manage an event from start to finish, be it a company meeting, large conference, or trade show.
For users in India, Zoom Events is available for free events currently, the company said in a blogpost.
“We know hosting events is hard work. Zoom Events simplifies the headaches that come with manually tracking attendee registrations, designing multiple event websites, and feeling overwhelmed by the needs of multiple speakers,” Sameer Raje, Country Manager of Zoom India, said in a blogpost.
Zoom Events will also offer a variety of custom branding features to extend brand reach beyond the walls of a conference centre to maximise the ROI of the online experience, he added.
The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns globally led to a sharp increase in the use of video conferencing platforms like Zoom. Later, the platform launched Zoom Events in May 2021.
“We hear it all the time: virtual events are here to stay. In fact, they’re in high demand, as they provide sustainable, far-reaching, cost-effective alternatives to in-person events,” Raje said.
With this in mind, Zoom wanted to help its customers elevate their event strategies with an innovative platform built solely for virtual and hybrid experiences, he added.
In Q2 2022, Zoom posted a revenue of $1,099.5 Mn, up 8% year-on-year, while its net income fell to $45.7 Mn from $316.9 Mn from the year-ago quarter. It added 204,100 enterprise customers, up 18% from the same quarter last fiscal year.
Zoom competes with the likes of Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.
The global video conferencing market size is expected to have a size of $19.73 Bn by 2030, clocking a CAGR of 12.5% from 2022 to 2030, according to a report by Grand View Research, Inc. Factors such as the emerging trend of remote working, geographically scattered business operations, and increased globalisation are expected to drive this growth.
