Get Ready Startups: Y Combinator Is Once Again Coming To India

YC Partners Will Host Talk Shows And Office Hours To Address Startup Queries

Silicon Valley accelerator-investor Y Combinator has recently announced its Office Hours-schedule in three Indian cities for its upcoming India visit. Three partners Gustaf Alströmer, Adora Cheung, and Anu Hariharan, visiting this October, will host talks and office hours in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.

Widely known for its three-months long intensive incubation programme followed by demo date, Y Combinator provides seed funding for startups, the earliest stage of venture funding. YC invests $120K for a 7% equity stake in the selected startups. Once selected, the startups move to Silicon Valley, the accelerator takes care of their living expenses at the YC campus. Besides, the financial aid and fine-tuning their pitch, YC also helps these startups in dealing with investors and acquirers. Earlier this year, eight Indian startups were shortlisted for YC’s Winter 17 mentorship programme. Among these were Playment, Bulk MRO, Servx, WiFi Dubba, Supr Daily, Dost Education, Credy and DocTalk.

Since 2005, YC has funded over 1,464 startups across the world.

Y Combinator: India Visit

During the course of their India visit, Y Combinator aims to address startups’ queries regarding the application process of the incubation program and questions in general. The Office Hours will be of 20 minutes duration for each startup.

In September 2016, YC Partners Tim Brady and Adora Cheung made their first visit to India and conducted the YC Office Hours in Delhi and Bengaluru. This time, the Office Hours will be extended to the Mumbai zone too.

After Y Combinator, another US-based accelerator Techstars has also launched its operations in India. The company has formed a JV Techstars India, in partnership with ANSR. While Indian startup ecosystem is going through a consolidation phase, increasing presence of top investment firms at every stage validates the shining future of Indian startups.

The Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi Office Hours is scheduled on October 23, 26 and 27, 2017 correspondingly. Details regarding the sign up for the Y Combinator’s Office Hours and Winter Session 2018 program can be found here.
