Social media platform X suffered yet another outage today, with thousands of users across the globe facing issues in accessing the website and app, outage tracker Downdetector showed.

As of 20:20 IST, more than 3,000 users in India reported problems with the platform, including issues with loading the app and website.

However, the website was back online soon after.

The disruption comes months after a major Cloudflare outage in November last year that took down several global platforms, including X, ChatGPT, Spotify, PayPal and Perplexity. That incident triggered widespread “500 errors” after unusual traffic spikes were detected across Cloudflare’s network.

At the time, Cloudflare said some traffic moving through its systems started returning errors, impacting multiple websites and apps across sectors such as ecommerce, mobility, cloud services and gaming. While most services were restored within hours, the incident highlighted the dependence of global platforms on a small set of infrastructure providers.

Before this, the Elon Musk-owned platform suffered outages at least twice last year. In May 2025, it went down twice within 24 hours, affecting thousands of users globally. One of those outages was linked to a data centre fire in Hillsboro, Oregon, which disrupted services at a facility leased by X.

Earlier, in March 2025, X suffered a separate outage that left users unable to access the platform for several hours.

Most recently, X was grappling with another battle globally. Its AI model GrokAI was in the news for generating vulgar images of women.

Following this, X removed 3,500 posts of obscene content in India after the electronics and IT ministry issued a notice to it. The platform also removed 600 accounts linked to such content.
