Uniphore Acquires Orby AI To Bolster Enterprise AI Cloud Platform

Conversational automation unicorn Uniphore has acquired Orby AI to strengthen its enterprise AI cloud offering for an undisclosed sum.

According to Uniphore, integrating Orby AI will add deeper capabilities in process discovery, neuro-symbolic reasoning, and Large Action Models. These technologies are expected to help Uniphore automate complex enterprise tasks that demand reasoning, judgment, and precision, areas where conventional generative AI tools often struggle.

Alongside this, the company also announced plans to acquire Autonom8, a move it said would complement Orby’s research focus with Autonom8’s track record of driving business adoption of multi-agent workflows.

Both Orby AI and Autonom8 bring research and engineering teams with backgrounds at DeepMind and Google, which Uniphore sees as a critical factor in the global race for top AI talent.

California-based agentic AI platform Orby AI was founded in 2022 by Bella Liu and Will Lu. The startup largely focusses on generative AI solutions and large action models (LAMs) for enterprises to reduce repetitive, complex workflows. The startup had earlier raised a $30 Mn Series A round in June 2024.

Meanwhile, founded in 2008 by Umesh Sachdev and Ravi Saraogi, Uniphore positions its ‘Business AI Cloud’ suite as a composable, secure platform that connects enterprise data, fine-tunes AI models, and deploys automation across functions in industries ranging from finance and customer service to legal and marketing.

The deal comes as Uniphore continues its push to expand its AI stack through acquisitions. In December 2024, the startup acquired ActionIQ and Infoworks to build what it calls a ‘zero data AI cloud’, designed to help enterprises overcome challenges around data access, accuracy, and sovereignty.

Notably, Uniphore is positioning itself in a market that has seen increasing consolidation as enterprises demand more specialised AI solutions. Global tech majors like Microsoft, Salesforce, and ServiceNow have been aggressively embedding generative AI into their enterprise offerings, while startups such as Cohere, Anthropic, and Adept are competing to bring reasoning-driven AI into business workflows.

Even India has seen a surge of enterprise AI startups in recent years, from conversational platforms like Gupshup and Yellow.ai to automation-focused players such as Observe.ai and Kore.ai.
