After Uber now Ola seems to get into trouble. According to recent news Ola has been asked for an explanation to the incident where one of its driver shared contact information of the rider with a person who harassed her.
The incident was reported by a 22-year-old Colombian hotel management student at Jaipur. The girl confirmed that she booked an Ola Cab on February 5 to go to a restaurant in Jawahar Nagar area. After which she had been getting pesky calls from a pharmacy student who reported that he had got the number through Ola cab driver who claimed her to be a call girl.
The girl logged an FIR under IPC and IT act. Rajiv Raha, SHO, Jawahar Nagar police station has arrested both the accused and has issued a notice to the Ola cab company seeking explanation with regard to the matter and the company’s responsibilities in such cases. It’s not been much time overcoming the Uber rape case when danger seems to hone Ola.
The Uber rape case has not been forgotten by the capital and another incident has surfaced raising eyebrows over taxi companies.
The Transport Department had rejected license request in Jan 2015 by major radio taxis including Ola which were found guilty of not operating under New Taxi Norms.
After the alleged rape incident Uber has taken corrective measures for their driver partners by tying up with First Advantage for driver screening & background checks.
There has been much spoken about women safety. But it only seems that these radio taxis have taken things for granted which raises a question against all the claims that these service providers make with respect to safety while travelling in cabs.
