In an early initiative under UK-India Tech Hub, the UK government is inviting applications for healthtech startups from India to participate in TeXchange 2020: Healthcare Innovation to be hosted in February 2020.

The UK-India Tech Hub aims to develop UK-India tech collaborations, create skilled digital tech jobs and stimulate the digital economy of both the UK and India under UK-India Tech Partnership. TeXchange is the flagship event of UK-Israel Tech Hub and is now open to applications from Kenya, Nigeria, or South Africa as well.

The organisers will select one startup from each tech hub country to participate in an intensive three-day programme throughout the first week of February 2020. The selected startups will get a chance to engage with UK healthcare stakeholders representing both the public and private sectors and investors.

Startups that offer a solution or service across the following industries can apply:

  • Clinical decision support tools
  • Predictive analytics
  • Early diagnosis of disease
  • Home-testing and diagnostics
  • Patient self-management of chronic diseases
  • Big Data analytics, AI, ML around EMR data and PGHD
  • Behavioural analytics and medical adherence/compliance
  • Personalised medicine
  • Telemedicine and/or health monitoring (wearables, sensors, connected devices, etc.)
  • Data integration and interoperability
  • Healthcare data security
  • Customer/patient journey/experience
  • Drug discovery
  • Digital therapeutics
  • Digipharma
  • Fitness/wellness

Further, the startup should have already secured funding (at seed level or above) and is interested in business expansion to the UK.

Digital Minister Matt Warman said, “We are giving the brightest global entrepreneurs focused on the development of innovative healthtech solutions the unique opportunity to come to the UK and showcase their solutions to the UK’s healthcare sector. TeXchange will help to build connections for global innovative startups and demonstrate that the UK is the place to grow and scale your tech business.”

The applications are open until October 11, 2019. India and the UK’s business ties have gained new energy in the past few years. Both countries have been working together extensively to promote and develop each other’s trade and economy. The UK has been India’s largest investor among the G20. India, too, is the third biggest investor in the UK.
