Pune-based gaming studio SuperGaming has officially announced the launch date of its made-in-India battle royale game, Indus.

It is slated to be released next Wednesday (October 16) and will be available for download on both Android and iOS platforms via Google Play Store and iOS App Store, the company said in a statement.

In August, SuperGaming officially launched Indus in open beta phase.

Back then, the gaming studio said that a unique feature debuting in the open beta was the Grudge System, which introduces revenge as a gameplay mechanism.

The Grudge System comes into play when a player is eliminated by another player during a match, giving them the option to declare a Grudge against their slayer.

Founded in 2017 by Roby John, Navneet Waraich, Sanket Nadhani, Christelle D’cruz and Sreejit J, SuperGaming is building mobile games such as MaskGun, Silly Royale, and Tower Conquest. It is also building its own gaming engine called SuperPlatform for running hyperscale, real-time multiplayer games.

“With the launch of Indus, we’re not just introducing a game—we’re presenting a unique take on the battle royale genre to the world. Our vision with Indus has always been to showcase Indian Art and Culture through unique characters, weapons and stories rooted in Indian heritage while also bringing our dual win condition with Cosmium and a never done before “Grudge”  feature to a popular game genre “, said John.

For Indus, the startup is focussing on creating a futuristic society against the backdrop of Indian civilisation, and art and culture to offer gamers a fresh yet relatable and immersive experience.

SuperGaming has also unveiled a cinematic trailer offering an exciting look where players engage in high-stakes combat across a vast and dynamic battleground.

The trailer also offers a sneak peek into the dynamics of Cosmium collection and Grudge, a unique in-game feature that allows players to settle scores with their opponents.

SuperGaming, backed by investors including Bandai Namco, Akatsuki Entertainment Technology Fund, Skycatcher, BAce Capital, and Dream Incubator, unveiled Indus in January 2022. The company has plans to release the game on various platforms, including mobile, consoles, and PC.

As the gaming studios increasingly focus on local content and more immersive experience, SuperGaming plans to root its growth in an ecosystem of games, technology and a Web3 marketplace.
