Pune-based gaming studio SuperGaming has officially launched its made-in-India battle royale game, Indus, in open beta phase.

A unique feature debuting in the open beta is the Grudge System, which introduces revenge as a gameplay mechanism, the gaming studio said.

The Grudge System comes into play when a player is eliminated by another player during a match, giving them the option to declare a Grudge against their slayer.

By doing so, the system preferentially pairs the two players together in future matches, creating an opportunity for redemption and payback. Successfully eliminating the player who previously defeated them will earn the player valuable rewards, including exclusive cosmetics and other in-game goodies.

“With the launch of the open beta for Indus Battle Royale, we are looking forward to welcoming a broader audience to experience the game. This phase is a vital part of our development as it allows us to gather feedback from a wider player base beyond our closed beta group. Players and community play an active role in shaping the future of Indus,” said Roby John, cofounder and CEO of SuperGaming.

With over 12 Mn pre-registrations on the Google Play Store, Indus Battle Royale is now also available for pre-order on iOS via the App Store.

In addition to open beta, SuperGaming is introducing a limited-period pre-launch battle pass for Indus, priced at 150 Indus Credits, one of the game’s in-app currencies. This exclusive battle pass offers players rewards such as the Legendary Avatar Heena, inspired by real-life athlete Heena Sidhu, along with attractive skins for vehicles and weapons.

To further engage its community, SuperGaming is launching the Indus Insiders 2 programme, building on the success of the inaugural Indus Insiders initiative. This programme invites passionate content creators and community members to collaborate with the development team, create engaging content, and connect with a dedicated player base.

Selected insiders will receive exclusive in-game rewards, invitations to special events, early access to updates, and direct communication channels with the development team. Through this programme, SuperGaming aims to strengthen the bond between the game and its creator community, ensuring that players remain at the heart of the Indus experience.

Set up in 2017 by John, Navneet Waraich, Sanket Nadhani, Christelle D’cruz and Sreejit J, SuperGaming is building mobile games such as MaskGun, Silly Royale, and Tower Conquest. It is also building its own gaming engine called SuperPlatform for running hyperscale, real-time multiplayer games.

SuperGaming, backed by investors including Bandai Namco, Akatsuki Entertainment Technology Fund, Skycatcher, BAce Capital, and Dream Incubator, unveiled Indus in January 2022. The company has plans to release the game on various platforms, including mobile, consoles, and PC.

For Indus, the startup is focussing on creating a futuristic society against the backdrop of Indian civilisation, and art and culture to offer gamers a fresh yet relatable and immersive experience.
