After six months of entering third phase Nasscom’s 10000 Startups has created another milestone in startup ecosystem. It has made it certain to open a second warehouse in Kolkata, first being in Bangalore. It is done as a part of efforts to scale up startups in India. They inked a partnership with West Bengal authorities to open its second warehouse in Kolkata.
It will be financially supported by the government of West Bengal, the warehouse will be managed by Nasscom’s 10,000 Startups program. The Startup Warehouse is located at Salt Lake and has room for more than a dozen startups. It is introduced to create a micro-ecosystem where early stage startup founders can work together, share their learnings and best practices with each other. It aims to capture the innovative spirit of West Bengal, thereby establishing Kolkata as an emerging destination of global businesses and startups.
A memorandum of understanding was formalised in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, government officials, Nasscom delegates, global CEOs and industrialists at the Bengal Global Business Summit here.
Rajat Tandon, senior director of Nasscom’s 10,000 Startups said, “We are hoping that this would evolve into a collaborative centre for learning, sharing and development of ideas. The vision of Nasscom 10,000 start-ups is to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into scalable businesses.”
10,000 Startups is a NASSCOM initiative was introduced in January 2013 and it aims at incubating, funding and supporting 10,000 technology startups in India by 2023. It is supported by Google, Microsoft, Verisign, Kotak & Intel.
