Several governments have issued advisories to avoid public gatherings
Global tech giants have decided to go with digital-first events in light of the pandemic
eChai.Network is organising a series of webinars for early-stage startups
With the coronavirus pandemic bringing events to a halt — whether it’s conferences, educational meetups or social gatherings of any kind — several startups and corporates have chosen to conduct events online.
Meanwhile, global tech giants decided to transform global events into virtual ones to ensure the safety of the hosting country as well even before any such advisory was rolled out. For instance, Google I/O developer conference scheduled for May 12 and May 14 is now being held online. Besides this, IBM Think 2020, Collision 2020, Octa’s Oktane Conference, and Adobe Summit 2020 will also be held virtually.
As we step into a new week, here’s a list of upcoming online events:
eChai.Network Webinar For Startups
eChai is organising a series of webinars to help early-stage startups get the right advice when scaling up and be more efficient in what they do. Starting off with a webinar series from March 17 to simplify legal compliance for startups, the company will also conduct webinars with a focus on explaining fundraising from the point of view of investors on March 18. This will be followed by ‘Tech Tools for Startups’ on March 19 and ‘How to apply and get selected for global startup accelerator programmes?’ on March 21. Y Combinator’s Demo Day
US-based accelerator programme Y Combinator has decided to host its renowned Demo Day for the winter batch 2020 virtually, for a select audience on March 16. Previously, the event was scheduled for March 23 and 24, 2020.
The YC Demo Day is organised 11 months into the three-month accelerator programme for early-stage startups. It gives them an opportunity to showcase their products and services in front of the live audience and raise funding. For the virtual event, Y Combinator has tried to match the experience and recreate all the aspects of the previous Demo Days.
The accelerator programme will provide additional written information for each company to allow investors and the founders to exchange contact information and arrange one-on-one meetings.

Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Summit
Each year, Microsoft holds its Most Valuable Professionals (MVP) and Regional Director (RD) summit for in-depth technical discussions and feedback sessions across the company’s Redmond HQ in Washington. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the company has decided to take the event online.
Microsoft is ensuring that the alternate experience still provides the exclusive in-depth technical sessions and includes members from its global community. The MVP is an exclusive event for all active MVPs identified within Microsoft. However, this time, the session also included regional directors.
