A Curated Lowdown Of Startup Events [March 19 – March 25, 2018]
This is Inc42’s latest edition of what startup events are coming up this week.
Nobel Prize-winning economist, Paul Krugman, has said this, with respect to India, “You need to create jobs for hundreds and millions of people who are going to need jobs that do not require those skills (high education and skill).”
If we are to believe these words, then it is evident that there is a huge problem with the hiring and skilling standards in India.
India is undergoing a massive transformation on a global scale today. We are lifting our economy and living standard to match the global parameters. We are en route to creating more urban cities and work is on a full scale to realise our Smart City vision.
With the increase in opportunities in urban India, there is a tandem issue regarding rural India that is occupying the minds of policymakers and innovators. “How do we penetrate development in rural India?”
Due to the shift in choices by the people in rural India to turn towards urban opportunities, another challenge is rising before India like a hydra-monster. Some estimate that over 30 people in rural area shift to the urban area every minute.
This is a scary number! And if this be true, then something needs to be done to bridge the ever-widening gap between urban and rural India, and between skill and unskilled people.
By initiating steps such as Skill India, the Indian government is already propelling the movement of skilling India. One other realisation that India came to as a country was that as a subsequent part of such skilling campaigns, technology enablers need to be encouraged.
Although, entrepreneurs and businesses in India have flourished since years and years, what lent steam to movement and made buzzwords of entrepreneurship was initiatives like Startup India, Make in India and Invest India.
Now, as we make our strides towards turning India into a startup hub, many states and businesses are joining hands to spread this message of entrepreneurship and lead people in the right direction to create their own businesses.
In regard to this, Inc42 has carved out this information over the coming week’s events where all such skilling and entrepreneurship issues might find some pragmatic solutions.

Rajasthan IT Day
It was in 2016, that Rajasthan felt the great seismic wave of tech revolution in its state. Since then, the state government has been continuously nurturing and striving to provide platforms to coders, developers and designers in the state.
Hosted by the Department of Information Technology and Communication (DoIT&C) of the Government of Rajasthan, the four-day event, starting from March 18, is ready to host five programmes which include TechRush, Hackathon 4.0, Eduhack, Green-a-thon, and eMitra/ITGK Connect.
Hackathon 4.0 will be a 36 hour non-stop coding marathon aimed at finding effective solutions to promote and improve the state’s IT and e-governance initiatives. The participants which include students, professionals, startups, and organisations, will have a prodigious platform to use their out-of-the-box thinking on either of these themes viz. AI, IoT, AR/VR, Blockchain, ML, data warehouse and data mobility.
In Green-a-thon, the government is looking for young problem solvers and innovative think tanks to create and implement new ideas for a more sustainable future. In this all-night marathon, the participants will build a green solution for a better world. The other programmes will include educators, Bhamashah card holders, people who use eMitra and tech innovators, etc.

Founders Meetup
Inc42 is coming up with Founders Meetup – an exclusive theme-based, home-hosted meetup for startup founders, in association with Scoot. This is the first edition of Founders Meetup series where 15 founders will share their unique startup journeys, and discuss challenges while getting to know the other hustlers of the startup ecosystem in an informal gathering.
The first kickoff edition will be hosted at the house of Inc42 founders and will see the participation of founders across industries with the aim of bringing in diverse perspectives and a healthy discussion.

HR Summit 2018
TiE Delhi-NCR, in association with Naukri.com, is coming up with “HR Summit 2018 – Reimagining HR”. TiE was founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior professionals. There are currently more than 12,000 members and over 1,800 charter members in 53 chapter in 12 countries.
The summit has been organised in view of the rapidly changing business patterns. As businesses change, modern workplaces are continuously evolving and are in the midst of transformation.
