Here is Inc42’s latest edition of startup events coming up this week. But before we dive into what’s in store for this week, let’s catch up on the successful events of the past week.
Last week, Inc42, in association with Ikigai Law (Formerly TRA), organised a roundtable interactive session — The Dialogue — with startups to bring to the fore the challenges they are likely to face if the draft Personal Data Protection (PDP) Bill is enacted in its present shape in India.
The roundtable was moderated by Vaibhav Agrawal, Founder and CEO of Inc42, Anirudh Rastogi, founder, Ikigai Law, and Nehaa Choudhuri, Policy Lead at Ikigai. It addressed the key points proposed in the PDP Bill — data localisation, data criticality, notice, and consent requirements.
Talking about the data localisation requirement, startup founders pointed out that setting up and storing data in a data server in India is costlier than in the US and Singapore. The roundtable also listed a number of challenges that remain ambiguous, unanswered, and need to be addressed before the Bill is introduced in the parliament.
Further, Inc42 successfully hosted Webinar: Freelancing For Students 101. The webinar aimed at exploring the significance of freelancing for young graduates and also guided them on how they can use freelancing to upskill during their time in college.
Sanyam Bhutani, a final year Computer Science student at SRM, Chennai, shared his experience from his several freelancing gigs in deep learning, computer vision, etc, and explained how they helped him build his career.
The event was also attended by V Chandramouliswaran, Senior Director, Enterprise Data Services, PayPal, who said that in order to support the students, the digital payments platform makes sure to interact with them by conducting hackathons, talks with them about initiatives at the workplace, the infrastructure one can leverage, and the scale of operations.
Without further ado, here are all the events awaiting bookmarks in your calendars for the coming week!
Inc42 AMA With Vishal Gondal
In our 22nd episode of Inc42 Ask Me Anything (AMA), we will host Vishal Gondal, Founder and CEO of GOQii, a digital health and wellness solutions company that caters to customers worldwide.
Gondal started his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 16 when he launched IndiaGames; he sold the startup to Walt Disney in 2012 for $100M.

His startup dominated the overall wearable market in India for Q2 2018 along with Titan and Xiaomi.
Gondal can be categorised as an offbeat angel investor who is making a mark by funding startups from Tier I and II cities instead of focusing only on metropolitan cities.
In this episode of AMA, we will be talking to Vishal about the aspirations and inspiration that got him to start out so young on his entrepreneurial journey.
We will also discuss his unconventional approach to investing in startups, the changing trends of the gaming industry and how he plans to make a mark in the fitness and lifestyle industry through his latest venture, GOQii.
