Bollywood actor and entrepreneur Sonu Sood on Wednesday (June 8) launched an AI-enabled social media app Explurger. The app is available on Android and iOS devices.

Explurger, which is a freemium app, helps users interact with their friends and family. It creates automatic travelogues using artificial intelligence (AI), gamifies the user experience, and rewards users for being socially active on the app.

Founded by Sood and Jitin Bhatia, Explurger creates a personalised travelogue for each user. Whenever a user creates a new post, the app automatically updates travelogue thereby, adding every mile, city or place that a user visits. To get recognition on the app, a user needs to increase his/her engagement, in turn, growing the Explurger level on the app.

Explurger cofounder and CEO Bhatia said, “Explurger helps discover travel itineraries written by travellers with route maps, photos, and guides. It is an indigenous app that rewards users for their posts on their travel updates, triggers wanderlust in followers and spreads positivity amongst the online community.”

Explurger permits users to create their bucket list, share future travel plans and rate places on the app. The app is currently being operated in the beta version by 50K users across 40 countries, according to a statement.

In 2020, Sood also founded a migrant workers-focussed job search platform Pravasirojgar.

In November 2020, Pravasirojgar secured INR 250 Cr funding from Temasek Holding-backed Goodworker to provide upskilling, financial, healthcare and social security services to job applicants.

Besides, Sood has also backed rural fintech startup Spice Money through his company Sood Informatics LLP. As part of the deal, Sood also became a brand ambassador and a non-executive board member of the startup.

Of late, a lot of Bollywood celebrities have turned investors and are backing various startups. So far in 2022, Sara Ali Khan has backed The Souled Store, Samantha Prabhu has invested in SustainKart, Rana Daggubati in Ikonz, Athiya Shetty has backed Stage3 , Suniel Shetty has backed Aquatein and Anushka Sharma has invested in Blue Tribe
