Shell India List 13 Startups With Cleantech Focus For E4 Incubation Programme

The Demo Day brought together a mix of 2000 energy entrepreneur ecosystems

Most startups in the cohort are in the mobility segment including electric vehicles

Selected startups include the likes of Magenta Power, Eee-Taxi, Energos. Go GreenEOT and others

Petrochemical major Shell has unveiled 13 growth-stage startups that were a part of the third cohort of its flagship incubation programme E4 (energising and enabling energy entrepreneur programme. The company had organised its demo day virtually on November 3 to 5.

The event brought together a mix of 2000 energy entrepreneur ecosystems of investors, startups, corporates and academia to support energy entrepreneurs and their solutions.

These 13 participating startups are operating across the tech domain, making use of advanced technology and innovative business model solutions such as battery technology, vehicle-as-a-service, shared mobility, and fleet digitisation. Some of these startups are also focusing on the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

Commenting on the same, Shell E4 programme’s general manager James Unterreiner, said, “Keeping in mind the energy challenges and current ecosystem, we decided to include more sectors and empower start-ups in the mobility and digital space in this edition. We hope to keep identifying and engaging with start-ups that have the talent and vision to innovate technology and accelerate India’s transition to a sustainable energy future.”

  • Commutec

Navi Mumbai-based Commutec is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) startup that helps fleet operators to digitise their employee transportation business. The company helps its clients to improve fleet utilisation, enhance safety, and reduce operational costs.

  • Eee-Taxi

Gurugram-based Eee-Taxi is an electric vehicle (EV) rental platform, which offers its services to corporate employees. The platform also offers route optimisation services to reduce travel time by leveraging telematics. It provides a charge point management system for other EV users to plug in their vehicles.

Mumbai-based Magenta Power focuses on solar energy-powered electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The company claims that the charging infrastructure is specially designed for Indian conditions, which range between hot and humid in most parts of the country. It is also developing solutions for the installation of EV charging infrastructure in rural India.

Go GreenEOT is a B2B logistics company, which helps other logistics companies to reduce costs associated with the last-mile delivery of products by providing a Vehicle-as-a-Service model at a monthly cost. Its services include electric vehicles, battery, charging and insurance.

Delhi-based Energos is a deeptech startup that adds IoT devices, automation and optimisation of consumed energy through edge-deployed self-tuning algorithms. The company claims to he;p clients, working in the manufacturing and industrial setups, save upto 15%-20% of energy consumption with its solutions. The solutions offered by Energos find applications in optimising heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and forecasting of distributed energy resources.

  • APChemi

APChemi is a cleantech startup that recycles plastic waste by chemically decomposing it. The solution developed by the company converts plastic waste into oil, which it claims has the potential to replace crude oil or naphthalene. APChemi claims to process over 75,000 Kg of plastic waste every day.

IOTomation offers a platform that improves energy efficiency through the automation of buildings. The company claims that offering a Pay-as-You-use subscription model reduces customer risk, while providing higher degrees of flexibility. Their vendor-agnostic full-stack SAAS building management system provides vendor implication by allowing for fire, safety, heating, cooling, electrical modules to be managed through one solution leading to increased operational efficiency.

LogicLadder is an energy and asset intelligence startup, which offers sustainability management and pollution monitoring solutions. The solutions enable customers to acquire real-time enterprise-wide energy and environment data to assess their environmental risks, predict anomalies, detect non-compliance and leverage machine learning for actionable insights.


Mumbai-based Nirvana Technologies offers a patented Nirvana ThermoAcoustic Power Stick (TAPS) technology, which converts gas into electricity at an efficiency greater than the average efficiency of the US power grid.

Jal Technologies is a cleantech IoT startup, which offers indoor and outdoor solutions to measure and monitor air pollution in smart cities and industries. The company helps the government, policymakers and citizens to take concrete action by providing an open-source platform that analyses the collected data providing actionable insights.

Stelae Technologies in a software company, which has developed an AI-powered software Khemeia. It detects and extracts content elements in unstructured documents, extracts meta-data, and structures content. It is currently implemented at major enterprise and public sector entities across many verticals.

Offgrid claims to have developed a rechargeable zinc-carbon battery that outperforms available battery technologies in terms of power density, life and cost. The startup aims to cater to multiple industries such as renewables, microgrids, electric vehicles and utilities through its different variants of zinc-carbon batteries.

Its advanced machine learning platform also integrates geological, geophysical, and engineering data providing operators with smart well paths for drilling future wells efficiently while enhancing overall productivity and maximizing profits.
