Retail Expansion: Apple To Open New Stores In Noida & Pune

iPhone maker Apple is reportedly considering expanding its retail footprint across India, with plans afoot to open four additional stores in key cities.

A Financial Express report said that the Cupertino-based tech giant has finalised locations for its third and fourth stores at DLF Mall of India in Noida and Kopa Mall in Pune, respectively.

Furthermore, Apple is said to be actively scouting suitable locations for two more stores in Bengaluru and Mumbai.

This move is a part of the company’s second phase of growth in the country.

As of now, Apple operates two retail stores in India – one in Delhi’s Saket and the other in Mumbai’s BKC.

A few months back, reports surfaced that Apple was planning to set up new retail stores in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi NCR and Mumbai without disclosing the timeline.

Meanwhile, with the rising sales of its flagship iPhone devices in the country, earlier this year, the company rolled out the Apple Store app in India, where users can purchase its products directly while receiving customised shopping recommendations, besides allowing shoppers to upgrade their Mac devices with a more powerful chip, extra memory, or additional storage.

On the other hand, Google is also seemingly set on similar tracks with Apple in opening its first retail stores outside the US in India, as per recent reports. The Alphabet-owned tech giant is scouting for locations in or around New Delhi and Mumbai as it is in advanced stages to finalise store locations in these cities, which is likely to open in another six months.

Given the uncertainty revolving around the ongoing US-China trade war, Apple is reportedly firming up plans to double down on its Indian manufacturing capabilities.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently said that Apple exported iPhones worth more than INR 1.5 Lakh Cr ($17.32 Bn) from India in the financial year ending March 2025, marking a 76% year-on-year (YoY) jump and doubling Apple’s committed target under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.
