Reliance Jio Likely To Launch New Version Of JioBook Laptop Soon

SUMMARY

Reportedly, the new version is going to retain the same design as the previous version

With this series, Reliance Jio aims to target the budget-conscious consumers

JioBook Laptop is expected to support 4G connectivity, and equipped with an octa-core processor

Reliance Jio may soon launch a new version of its laptop, the JioBook by July 31.

Reportedly, this could be an upgraded version of the existing JioBook that was launched in October last year.

Though the previous version of the JioBook was available only at Reliance Digital Stores, Mint reported that this could be available on Amazon also as the teaser of the device is already on the ecommerce site.

According to the teaser, the new device may retain the same look and is designed to offer features needed for productivity, entertainment, and gaming for every age group. It is expected to support 4G connectivity and equipped with an octa-core processor capable of handling high-definition video streaming, multitasking, and various software applications.

With this laptop series, the conglomerate aims to target the budget-conscious consumers who look for a device with only the basic features. However, the other features of the JioBook Laptop are yet to be disclosed.

This is not the first time Reliance Jio has aimed at grabbing the budget-conscious market with its offerings. Since the very first launch of its telecom network with free internet and affordable mobile phones, Jio has come a long way.

Reliance Jio reported a 12.5% increase in its consolidated net profit to INR 5,098 Cr during the first quarter (Q1) of the financial year 2023-24. The company said, there was a net subscriber addition of 9.2 Mn in Q1 FY24, even as the monthly churn reduced to 1.8% during the quarter.

Earlier this month, the telecom giant was in talks with some major global banks to raise $1 Bn – $1.5 Bn through offshore syndicated loans to buy 5G network gear from Sweden’s Ericsson.

Interestingly, Jio’s consumer internet venture Jio Cinema is not behind in the race of taking over the Indian market. Jio Cinema’s win of the IPL streaming battle helped it garner a world record of 32 Mn viewers tuning in to watch the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final. In fact, it also claimed that Jio Cinema’s revenue out of IPL streaming was better than its rival Disney Star, which owned the telecast rights of the league.
