RED.Health Acquires TACT To Bolster Healthcare Training Stack

Medical emergency response startup RED.Health has acquired a majority stake in healthcare training institute TACT Academy for Clinical Training for an undisclosed amount. Post the acquisition, TACT will be rebranded as RED TACT. Under the new brand, the company will also introduce advanced training programmes in emergency care, trauma management, and pre-hospital care. RED TACT will launch new simulation-based training centres in major cities, including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Delhi. In a statement, RED.Health said that the rebranded entity will also launch programmes catering to doctors, nurses, paramedics, and technicians, with a focus on practical, task-based learning. With this acquisition, RED.Health will look to expand into the healthcare skilling segment, diversify its offerings and create additional streams of revenue. Founded in 2016 by Prabhdeep Singh, RED.Health operates India’s largest emergency response network with over 6,000 ambulances spanning 30+ cities. The startup also offers emergency response training, air ambulances, road ambulances, and telemedicine services. Meanwhile, TACT, founded in 2007, offers simulation-based healthcare training in India. “...TACT has built a remarkable legacy in simulation-based clinical training, and this collaboration is a critical step in strengthening the foundation of emergency preparedness in India. Together, we aim to create a healthcare training ecosystem that equips professionals with the skills and confidence to handle real-world challenges effectively,” said RED.Health founder and CEO Singh. Commenting on the acquisition, TACT founder and MD N Ramakrishnan added, “Joining hands with RED Health marks a significant milestone in our journey to redefine clinical training. This alliance allows us to combine our strengths and create an environment where healthcare professionals are not just trained but empowered to excel.” RED.Health also said it plans to integrate TACT’s digital learning platforms with its products to offer training material across urban and rural regions. It also plans to partner with universities to create academic programmes for healthcare professionals “RED.Health’s plans for the coming year include launching new simulation-based training centres across major cities, fostering innovation in healthcare education, and strengthening its workforce,” the startup added. In May last year, RED.Health raised $20 Mn in its Series B funding round led by Jungle Ventures, along with participation from existing and new investors, including HealthQuad, HealthX and Alteria Capital. Notably, the startup rebranded itself from StanPlus in January 2023. Prior to that, it raised 20 Mn in debt and equity in its Series A funding round from HealthQuad, Kalaari Capital, and HealthX Singapore in 2022.
