Rebel Foods’ 15-minute quick food delivery service is currently live in Mumbai with plans to scale it to other cities soon

Zomato’s Blinkit and Swiggy Instmart also offer 10-minute food delivery service under ‘Bistro’ and ‘SNACC’, respectively

IPO-bound cloud kitchen unicorn Rebel Foods has forayed into the 15-minute food delivery segment to take on the likes of foodtech giants Zomato and Swiggy.

In a LinkedIn post on Friday (February 14), EatSure cofounder and CEO Sagar Kochhar said Rebel Foods has launched its 15-minute food delivery app ‘QuickiES’.

“Love at First Bite! Introducing QuickiES – The World’s First 15MinsOrFree Quick Food Delivery App!” the post read.

Owned by Rebel Foods, EatSure is a D2C platform that allows users to order food from multiple restaurants in one go.

The QuickiES app appears to be in a pilot phase and is currently operational in select pin codes of Mumbai. Through the app, Rebel Foods will deliver food from 45+ brands such as Faasos, Wendey’s, Oven Story Pizza, LunchBox, among others, to customers in under 15 minutes.

In addition, users can also order cafe-style snacks such as poha, idli, medu vada, puffs and Maggi.

The brainchild of Kallol Banerjee and Jaydeep Barman, Rebel Foods started in 2011 as a delivery-only company with a single brand Faasos. Fourteen years later, it owns and operates multiple quick service restaurant (QSR) brands such as Behrouz Biryani, Mandarin Oak, Oven Story Pizza, Sweet Truth, LunchBox, The Good Bowl, Firangi Bake, the Biryani Life and Wendy’s.

The startup has raised $773 in funding to date and counts the likes of KKR, Temasek, Lightbox, and Evolvence among its investors.

In October 2024, reports claimed that Rebel Foods was eyeing a public listing in the next 12-18 months.

Rebel Foods reported a net loss of INR 378.2 Cr in the financial year 2023-24 (FY24), down 42% from INR 656.5 Cr in the previous fiscal year. Meanwhile, its operating revenue grew 19% year-on-year to INR 1420.2 Cr during the year under review.

Rebel Foods’ entry into quick food delivery comes amid intensifying competition in the space, with incumbents Zomato, Swiggy and Zepto aggressively expanding their offerings.

After cementing its position in the quick commerce space, Zomato-owned Blinkit launched its 10-minute food delivery app Bistro in December last year. Swiggy and Zepto offer similar services under the brands ‘SNACC’ and ‘Zepto Cafe’, respectively.

Amid the rising popularity of instant delivery services in India, Blinkit, Instamart and Zepto have expanded beyond the grocery category, selling everything from apparel and electronics to jewellery and skincare products.

Taking a leaf out of their playbook, ecommerce giants Flipkart and Amazon have also entered the quick commerce turf. As consumers embrace the convenience of instant delivery of items to their doorsteps, newer startups are also scooping funds.

In November last year, Bengaluru-based 10-minute food delivery startup Swish, which was launched in 2023, raised $2 Mn from Accel. Recently, Zing also launched its 10-minute food delivery service in Delhi NCR.
