Gurugram-based real estate property and broker review platform Roofpik has acquired personalised product delivery platform Shoppist.
The acquisition aims to strengthen Roofpik’s core team and bring personalised property recommendations to its users. Post the acquisition, Divij Goyal founder of Shoppist, will join the Roofpik Board as Chief Marketing Officer.
Founded in June 2016, by Arpit Mittal and Kanika Katoch, Roofpik is a real estate property review-focussed platform. It has placed data analytics at the core of its property review and search model where people can read, write, and talk about their experiences.
Arpit Mittal, co-founder, Roofpik, said, “Divij and the Shoppist team bring a fresh boost of expertise to the core team of Roofpik. This acquisition will help us build a robust and experience-oriented product with the potency to give voice to the people in real estate industry.”
Real estate startup Roofpik will use Shoppist’s NLP (natural language processing) technology to validate reviews and generate analytics from over 5,000 user reviews that are currently live on the platform.
On the other hand Bengaluru-based Shoppist was founded in 2015 by Divij Goyal. It is a personalised product discovery platform that uses NLP to find the relevant product from over 100 shopping channels.
Divij Goyal, founder of Shoppist said, “There’s a clear gap in the real estate space which can be addressed by offering user-generated reviews/ratings of properties and agents. I hope this acquisition will definitely help to build Roofpik a bigger and a valuable brand for users”.
Earlier in March 2017, Bengaluru-based real estate startup Property Share had raised an undisclosed amount of funding in a round led by Japanese asset management firm Asuka. Existing investors Pravega Ventures and Singapore-based BEENEXT also participated in the round. In the same month, online real estate portal MagicBricks also secured $4.48 Mn ( INR 30 Cr) from Times Internet Ltd. Other players in the real estate segment, apart from Roofpik (combined with Shoppist) include Classified Portal, QuikrHomes, Housing, PropTiger, NoBroker etc.
