Online classifieds platform Quikr has launched an instant messenger named Quikr Nxt to enable seamless transactions between users by allowing instant chats. Quikr Nxt takes user privacy to a next level by providing sellers the option of connecting with prospective buyers or sellers without providing their contact numbers or email ids.
Earlier, the website allowed users to check the products online and then close the deals by interacting through email or phone calls.
The instant messaging or chat service can be used both on the desktop and mobile. The messenger, Quikr Nxt also allows parallel chat sessions with multiple users, notifications for offline consumers, saved chat histories for future reference and features for users to share additional images and details through the chat window.
“This will help us in monetising. Now a small business owner, who buys a package of listings, can see the value and have a record of the deals struck through us,” said Pranay Chulet, CEO and founder of Quikr.
The new service, was tested in ten cities over the past month, and has shown a remarkable performance for the deals that are struck on the online platform. “For used goods, it used to take two-three days for a sale, but with the messaging we have seen that time come down to less than a day in some cases,” he said.
Going forward, the company is planning launch a ‘Quikr Nxt’ programme which will help buyer and sellers work through the logistics aspect of delivering the product is also on the anvil.
