PUBG Maker KRAFTON Floats INR 6,000 Cr India Fund

With a vision of doubling down on investments in leading gaming and technology companies across Asia and particularly in India, South Korean gaming giant KRAFTON is set to launch a new fund with a total corpus of INR 6,000 Cr ($669 Mn) in January 2026.

KRAFTON is partnering with Seoul-based Mirae Asset Global Investments and Seongnam-based internet portal NAVER to launch the KRAFTON-NAVER-MIRAEASSET Unicorn Growth Investment Fund.

While the PUBG maker will contribute an initial investment of INR 1,230 Cr, and together with the two partner companies and external investors, the fund is expected to begin operations with a total size of over INR 3,000 Cr.

This will be a large-scale growth fund targeting leading technology companies across Asia, with prime focus on Indian businesses.

The unicorn growth fund will help KRAFTON to further expand its investment scope, where its focus will shift beyond gaming, channeling capital into a wider set of promising Indian tech sectors, the gaming giant said in a statement.

“We expect that the collaboration among Korea’s leading companies will generate meaningful synergies,” KRAFTON India CEO Sean Sohn said. “By exploring investment opportunities in various sectors such as consumer goods, sports, media and healthcare, we plan to position ourselves as a brand trusted by its people.”

Over the course of the past few years, KRAFTON claims to have invested about $200 Mn in the country to capture a lion’s share of the Indian gaming market. In September, the CEO said the company will invest at least $50 Mn (INR 441.23 Cr) in India every year.

The market is key for KRAFTON and other casual game makers given the high smartphone penetration and ease of access to digital payments to enable micro transactions.

KRAFTON’s flagship product is Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), formerly known as  PUBG, which surpassed 200 Mn downloads in the country in 2024, with usage trends further climbing in the country.

With real money gaming suffering a big regulatory blow in 2025, more and more investments are expected in the casual gaming, esports and mobile gaming arena.
